Auckland Snow Show
From 3 – 5 June 2011, Auckland Viaduct will be transformed into a ski, snowboard, wakeboard and FMX exhibition, where you can watch both local and international athletes in an all-action sports spectacular. Featuring a 17m high ramp with 60 cubic metres of snow and flanked by the dirt down ramp for the FMX riders, the Auckland Snow Show is set to be the most exciting snow event in the North Island this year.
As well as a fantastic exhibition of extreme sports, the Auckland Snow Show will also be showcasing a huge assortment of winter goods, promotions and packages at bargain prices. To top it all off, the Auckland Big Air will be held on the Saturday evening and is guaranteed to attract a large crowd to the Snow Show location. This is a winter experience you don’t want to miss!
Walking with Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular
Journey back over 200 million years to the land of Dinosaurs…right in your own back yard! Dinosaurs will once again roam the earth from 29 June to 10 July at Auckland’s Vector Arena in Walking with Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular.
The theatrical show, based on the award-winning BBC Television series, will feature real size dinosaurs coming to life in what promises to be one of the most exciting and groundbreaking shows ever seen in New Zealand. Be amazed and thrilled as you watch 20 life-sized dinosaurs, including Tyrannosaurus Rex walk, roar and fight for survival and supremacy. Make sure you have your seat to see the return of the dinosaurs!
Stardome Observatory & Planetarium
When the cold and wet weather takes hold, head to the Stardome Observatory & Planetarium for a fun learning experience for all ages. With an ever changing range of events throughout the year, there’s always something new to see here.
During June, take a virtual tour of the winter night sky in the Planetarium and learn about the stars, planets and constellations that are visible at this time of year. Sit back in comfy reclined seats and enjoy this 360 degree show projected on the dome ceiling using state of the art technology. Wednesdays – Sundays in June, 8pm.
