Diwali: Festival of Lights is India’s best-loved festival and is the largest Indian cultural event in New Zealand. Symbolising the triumph of light over darkness and the renewal of life, the 2011 Diwali Festival promises to be even bigger and brighter than previous years, as it coincides with the Rugby World Cup.
The festival features on-stage entertainment, traditional and contemporary dance and music and a popular Bollywood dance competition, as well as over 100 Indian food and craft stalls and a spectacular grand finale fireworks display.
The Auckland event will be held on 8 – 9 October at Aotea Square and Aotea Centre, while Wellington’s festival will take place on 16 October at TSB Bank Arena.
The Diwali Festival is an alcohol-free and vegetarian event. To find out more, visit Asia: NZ Online.
